Description of Duties:

The candidate is under the supervision of the school Maintenance supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide a means of transportation for students/staff of the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf
• Responsible for meeting state driver licensure requirements and obeys all laws for operation of a school bus
• Enforce normal school system and/or state regulations while transporting groups;
• Maintain a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies
• Cleaning the bus at the end of each trip
• Remain with groups on all trips
• Demonstrate courteous and respectful behavior with students, staff and the general public
• Prohibit food and smoking or unsafe conduct on bus
• Perform pre and post trip safety and maintenance checks
• Advise supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs
• Complete records of all trips and submit the records weekly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience and/or training involving driving a passenger vehicle
  • Knowledge of:
    • basic motor vechile and school bus operation; local and state traffic ordianances
    • school bus safetry policies and procedures;
    • local and state roads and highway sufficient to locate specific locations and addresses
    • vehicle maintenance requirements, records and procedures
  • Must have a valid Georgia Class B CDL with PS endorsement driver's license
  • Must pass background check
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older

Salary/Benefits:

Part-time and hourly position with no benefits. Hourly rate of $20
