Amy Cohen Efron
My name is Amy Cohen Efron. I am from Brooklyn, New York and I graduated from Gallaudet University with a B.A. degree in Psychology and Studio Art, and continued my studies for my M.A. and Psy.S. degrees in School Psychology. I was a school psychologist for 30 years and also a professional artist.
I decided to change my career to share my artistic talents and knowledge with students. I am currently taking my Master of Arts in Teaching at Georgia State University, expecting to graduate in May 2024. I am committed to continuing my studies in these content areas, Art and Graphic Design.
Currently, I am teaching K-8 art and CTAE Graphic Design. I am so excited to provide a safe space for all Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, DeafBlind, and Deaf Disabled students to find creative ways of self-expression and develop strong artistic skills that are useful for all aspects of their learning.
Taking part in art activities can help deaf children and adolescents:
· feel more confident
· learn new skills
· improve their communication
· explore and understand their emotions, identity and the world around them
· be creative and imaginative
· broaden their horizons
· develop employable skills
· strengthen problem solving skills
· have fun!
