Superintendent's Letter

  • Greetings!

Welcome to the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf (AASD)! AASD is a vibrant day school located in metro Atlanta serving over 110 deaf/hard of hearing children ages three to twenty-one years from over 27 school districts surrounding Atlanta. At the heart of everything we do is our passion to provide a language-rich, student-centered learning environment that empowers our students to lead independent, fulfilling lives, and become productive, contributing members of society.

Through the power of American Sign Language and English, we create an inclusive and nurturing educational space. Our commitment to a language-rich environment ensures that our students can effectively communicate, express themselves, and engage in meaningful interactions with their peers, teachers, and the broader community.

As a student-centered institution, we prioritize the individual needs and aspirations of each child. We believe in tailoring our approach to accommodate various learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Our dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly to support and guide our students on their unique educational journeys.

Our ultimate goal is to empower our students, providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to flourish both academically and socially. By fostering independence, resilience, and a strong sense of self, we prepare them to navigate the world with confidence.

At AASD, we firmly believe that education extends beyond the classroom. We equip our students with the tools and values to become active, contributing members of society. By nurturing their passions, encouraging critical thinking, and fostering a sense of community, we instill in them the desire to positively impact the world around them.

Our mission also emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning. We encourage our students to embrace curiosity, continuously expand their horizons, and seize opportunities for personal and intellectual growth.

Together, as a united community of students, families, faculty, and staff, we create an environment that is not just an educational institution but a home away from home. At AASD, every student's potential is not only recognized but celebrated.

We invite you to join our vibrant community in making our mission a living reality. Together, we will continue to build a language-rich, student-centered learning environment where our students can thrive, excel, and leave a lasting, positive impact on the world.

If you have any questions or need any support, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to ensure that your experience at AASD is nothing short of extraordinary.

    Warm regards,
