Work Based Learning
Greetings! My name is LaDonna Sutton and I was born and raised in Chicago, IL but relocated to Atlanta, GA as a young adult. I began my pursuit in the field of education at Chicago State University. I continued my education after relocating to Atlanta, at Mercer University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science. Passionate about education, I began my career in the Dekalb County School System. This job encouraged me to continue my college studies, therefore I went on to earn both my Master’s Degree and finally an Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S). in the field of education. When I am not working I love spending time with my family. I am married and have six children and three precious grandchildren. I do however extend my title of “NaNa” to many others who respect and love me as their own. I presently teach at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf as the Work Based Learning Coordinator. I enjoy teaching job skills and work ethics to students eager to learn. I strongly feel that when it comes to the Work-based Learning program, there is no greater joy than to watch students learn job skills in the classroom and apply these skills to job sites in the community.
Hi! My name is Diedre Nicole Wells and I am one of the teachers with the Work Based Learning Program here at AASD. Since 2016, I have been working with this exciting program that teaches students how to work and succeed in “the real world.” I have been part of the AASD family since 2002. I am originally from Tionesta, PA but moved to Georgia to work at AASD. I received my Undergraduate degree in Special Education from Clarion University in Clarion, PA and my Master’s degree in Deaf Education from Canisius College in Buffalo NY. I have had many different roles during my time here at AASD. I have been a classroom teacher in the Elementary and High School Departments, a Bridges Specialist and a PE Teacher. My husband and I live in Snellville GA, we have two children. We love spending time together as a family whether that is going to the Atlanta Zoo or playing games together.
